The Society offers a programme of lectures on a diverse range of geological and related topics. Delivered by experienced and engaging speakers, these talks are pitched to appeal to both professional and amateur enthusiasts alike. Our annual programme is designed to cover a range of interests from local East Midlands geology, landscape and heritage through to the latest developments of international significance in geological science.
Our lectures are usually held on the second Saturday evening of each month from October to April, but please check our listings below for specific information about each lecture. Non-members are welcome at all of our lectures and attendance is free of charge. There is normally no need to register in advance, unless stated specifically for any individual events below.
Unless stated otherwise, EMGS Lectures are normally held in the School of Geography Sir Clive Granger Building on the Nottingham University Park campus, see below for directions. Please note that the rear entrance to the building is currently closed and fenced off for engineering works, so please enter by taking the path that leaves the car park adjacent to the EV chargers and follow it around the building to the front (main) entrance
